The purpose of maintenance therapy is to preserve oral health over the long term.
As dental hygienists, we provide ongoing care through daily clinical procedures such as PMTC and TBI and sometimes encounter complications such as the recurrence of periodontal disease and the fracture of prosthetic restorations during maintenance care.
One possible contributing factor behind these problems is occlusal force.
In this lecture, I will focus on complications that commonly occur during the maintenance phase and discuss how occlusal force can lead to these problems, how to recognize early signs of troubles through subtle intraoral changes, and what perspectives are necessary for achieving long-term stability through clinical cases.
