The microscope is no longer viewed as a special device used only for precision treatment.
In this session, two clinics will share their experiences with microscope adoption, including the reasons for implementation, the challenges they faced, and its role in daily practice. Through an open discussion between dentists and dental hygienists, the speakers will explore questions such as “Is it really necessary?” and “Where does it make the greatest impact?”
From a specialized tool to part of everyday dentistry, this dialogue between two clinics offers valuable perspectives on the role of magnification in modern clinical practice.

By 2025, cumulative sales of dental microscopes in Japan had exceeded 20,000 units, making multiple microscope installations per clinic increasingly common. A key driver of this trend is the growing involvement of dental hygienists, with more than 200 JAMD-certified hygienists nationwide. This lecture explores the true value of dental microscopy, what it allows clinicians to see and how it transforms clinical practice. Beyond improving precision, it demonstrates how this expanded visual perspective can significantly enhance clinical workflows, practice management, and professional fulfillment.

In this lecture, we will share our experience introducing dental microscopy into our clinic, from the initial trial-and-error phase to its successful integration into daily practice. We will also discuss the insights gained as dentists and dental hygienists began sharing the same field of view, and how this collaboration has influenced clinical workflows and treatment quality.
Common challenges encountered during implementation and practical strategies for overcoming them will be presented. Furthermore, we will demonstrate how dental microscopy has evolved from a "special instrument" into an essential part of routine clinical care. Through clinical cases, we aim to provide practical tips and perspectives that can be readily applied in everyday practice.
